Courses
SAT Preparation
This class is designed for high school students in their Junior
or Senior years who want to improve their scores in the verbal
sections of the SAT exam, required for students who would like
to enter universities in the United States. Taught by a native
speaker, the course focuses on the five major components of
the exam: grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, essay
writing and math.
PSAT Preparation
Similar in structure to the SAT Prep course, this class is designed
for high school students in their Freshmen and Sophomore years
who plan on taking the PSAT, a precursor to the SAT. It also
concentrates on grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension and
math. Essay writing is also taught to enhance student’s
English skills, although essay is not included in the PSAT test.
General English Classes
This class focuses on building general English skills in reading,
writing, speaking and listening. The activities are designed
to challenge students in their appropriate grade level to increase
their all-around English abilities but also to have a fun time
in the process. This is accomplished with a mixture of reading,
writing, speaking and listening activities, along with games
that help students review and practice these necessary skills.
One-on-One English Classes
Does your child need some personal attention and help in furthering
their English fluency skills? If so, this is the perfect class
for you. Your child will spend one hour a day and up to five
days a week with a native English speaker getting individualized
instruction and practice in speaking English. Your child will
receive extra focus on each area they need growth in while in
an encouraging, friendly environment. A One-On-One class is
the perfect way to put your child’s English skills on
the fast-track towards fluency.
Grammar
and Writing
This course was created to help upper elementary school or middle
school students refine their grammar skills, while also building
their writing skills. Students can enjoy creative writing, but
also learn the best methods for writing an effective essay,
a skill that will be very beneficial in their academic careers.
Mathematics
The MATH program at Honors Academy consists of systematically
composed teaching materials that empower a child to work individually
along with guidance by an instructor. This method is important
to motivate a student to undertake mathematics assignments voluntarily.
The materials are designed in such a way that students deepen
their thinking and develop mathematical skills. Our Math materials
are aligned with the Global Math curricula and nurture enhanced
problem-solving and reasoning skills, as recommended by the
National Council of Teachers of mathematics of the United States.
Debate
With a curriculum designed by experts at our headquarters in
California, this course will train students to build their public
speaking skills, an important factor for success in academics
and business. Students will learn techniques to speak more persuasively
in a fun and challenging atmosphere and will build new skills,
including improved research techniques and critical thinking
skills. This class is perfect for those students who wish to
become more comfortable and confident in public speaking.
New sessions for high school students will be open in September,
2010.
Phonics & Reading
The ability to read is a necessary skill for each child to have.
Not only does reading help a child succeed in the classroom
but it opens the door to discovering the rest of the world.
Reading stirs up the creativity in each child and can foster
a love of learning that will sustain them throughout their academic
and personal lives. That is why it’s so important for
your child to be comfortable reading and to have confidence
in their ability to do so. Phonics and Reading is a wonderful
class for children ages four and five who know their ABC’s
and are just beginning to explore the literary world. This class
aims to help children read accurately and fluently in a fun,
encouraging environment.
AP Biology
World News

today. Students will watch news clips to learn more about the
world around them and the issues facing them as they reach adulthood.
They will learn new vocabulary related to each topic which will
help them to be able to discuss a myriad of topics articulately.
The class will promote discussions about current events. Students
will learn how to think critically about new ideas and problems
in the world and how interact with each other and their teacher
while respecting differing opinions and points of view. This
class will help each student become more well-rounded and attuned
to the world today.
